• Supplemental Figure 1 - Northern blot analysis of hypothalamic CIS mRNA from continuously suckled lactating rats given either 3 mg/kg bromocriptine mesylate (+) or vehicle (-) 3h prior to death. Each lane represents a different animal. Blots were stripped and probed for 18s to ensure equal loading. Bromocriptine treatment did not affect CIS mRNA expression.
• Supplemental Figure 2 - Northern blot analysis of hypothalamic CIS and SOCS3 mRNA from lactating rats with pups removed for 16h prior to the return of sucking pups (+ pups) for 1 or 2h, or without pup return (-). Each lane represents a different animal. Hypothalamic CIS transcripts are upregulated by the return of sucking pups, whilst there is no SOCS3 response.
