• Supplemental Figure S1 - Daily changes in G6Pase, GK and PEPCK mRNA levels in the liver of intact rats fed ad libitum (grey bars) and intact rats subjected to a 6-meal feeding schedule (black bars). The data are represented as the mean ± S.E.M. Animals were housed in 12h light/12h dark cycle with lights on at 07:00 and were fed ad libitum or subjected to 6 meal feeding schedule. They were sacrificed (n = 5) at ZT 0.5, 6.5, 12.5 and 18.5 (for more details see our previous study, Cailotto et al., 2005). The time points 0.5/6.5 and 12.5/18.5 were combined in order to represent the day/night changes of the liver enzyme expression. Statistical analysis is summarized in table S1. The absence of a time effect for PEPCK is explained by the fact that in this experiment we missed the daily peak (see Fig.2) due to inappropriate time points. But the absence of group and group*time effects indicate that also daily PEPCK expression is not affect by the daily pattern of food intake.
